Because Everything Works, Love

Posted on June 13th, 2009 filed in Books, Movies, Music

So lately I have been very into acoustic singer-songwriter -ey stuff. (I am terrible at “classifying” music, in case you haven’t noticed so I just took that from last.fm tags. Heh.) I especially love Matt Nathanson, and his song, Come On Get Higher, from Some Mad Hope is free from Walmart MP3 if you click on “free downloads.” It’s actually one of my favorite of his songs. Here, listen:

And while I’m sharing, Sarah Dessen’s new book Along for the Ride comes out on June 16th (just a few more days!) and I am really excited! I rarely ever read teen fiction these days, but I love Sarah Dessen’s novels. I never have time for a lot of reading during the school year so I plan to do some serious reading this summer. I especially intend to finally get through Pride & Prejudice. For some reason, I have the hardest time getting through novels from that era. However, I’ve seen the 2005 film (with Keira Knightley) so many times that I am in love with the story. So when I’m reading the novel, I’m like, HEY I remember that in the film!

Before I forget, the reason I wanted to post in the first place: the trailer for The Time Traveler’s Wife is finally out! I’ve been looking forward to this film for at least a year, because the casting is excellent - Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana as the two main characters! I love them both, and they are both so versatile! The trailer is beautiful, and I hope the film is, too. I read the book it’s adapted from, by Audrey Niffenegger, a couple years ago and maybe I should re-read it before seeing the film. Anyhow, the film finally has a release date: August 14th!

    Thank you for sharing the song! I love it! :D

    And I’m really looking forward to The Time Traveler’s Wife. I haven’t read the book, but it sounds good. :D

    I’m SO excited for Along for the Ride! Only a few more days until its release, yay!

    Matt Nathanson… you know, I think I would really like his music were it not for the fact I saw him once in concert and he was a TOTAL DOUCHEBAG. One of my friends saw him at another concert and said he usually was really nice and really sweet, but at the one I went to, I wanted to throw a freakin’ bottle at his head and send him offstage. His music is good, but he was just a jerk!

    I really like that song - not my type of music but I really like his voice :D He did another song a few years ago that I really liked, umm, “Car Crash” I think!

    I can’t wait to see The Time Travelers Wife, I simply adore Rachel McAdams and the novel <3

    Hello! I’m sorry I couldn’t get back to you sooner, since I’m pretty tied up with revisions. Finals, you know… ^^;

    That’s a beautiful song! Thanks for sharing :) Since you’re into that kind of song, surely you’ll love Howie Day and his song called Collide (if you haven’t heard of it yet, that is). In fact, Matt Nathanson reminds me of Howie Day a little.

    Omgoodness! Love the song, thanks so much for sharing.
    And I haven’t read the book, but just from cast and the basic description of The Time Traveler’s Wife, I’ve been waiting for a trailer… it looks like it will be an amazing movie. Heartbreaking, but fabulous at the same time!

    Ooh, thank you for the music rec! After listening to the song, I really like it. Must search for his other songs now.

    I finally saw Sarah Dessen’s books here. Thank goodness! It took me a while and I finally saw them on display. I haven’t read any of her works yet but I’m dying to because of I’ve been curious ever since you’ve mentioned it before.

    As for The Time Traveler’s Wife, I haven’t read the book yet and I find it funny because I bought it last Christmas but I still haven’t even started reading it. I fail right now.
