Rose joined Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia in the afterlife with the cast of The Golden Girls reunited in BossLogic’s latest artwork.
The last year ended horribly with the death of beloved TV icon Betty White. The news came as White prepared to celebrate her 100th birthday this month, and because many of us really felt like she would be here forever, the news came as a big shock to many. Moved by her passing, BossLogic has created a new digital artwork imagining White in the afterlife, again with the cast of Golden girls.
As the oldest, White was also the last surviving member of the cast. Starring White as Rose Nylund, the series also starred Bea Arthur as Dorothy Zbornak, Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux and Estelle Getty as Sophia Petrillo. Getty died in 2008 at age 84, Arthur died in 2009 at age 86, and McClanahan died in 2010 at age 76.
Created by Susan Harris, Golden girls Aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992. The series followed four mature women sharing a friendship and a home in Miami, Florida as they navigated life and love in their golden years. The acclaimed sitcom was hugely popular at the time and won all four of its main stars Emmy Awards, one of the very few comedy shows to achieve this feat. It is now widely regarded as one of the best sitcoms of all time.
“I can’t believe I’m the only one left because I [was] the oldest! “White has already said OK Magazine.
“We showed up for the reading [and] it was like hitting a tennis ball over the net, âshe also said of starting the series with the set.â It was so exciting to be with four people with that chemistry. – I will never forget that first reading. It was like we had always worked together! I still get goosebumps thinking about it. ”
When Rue McClanahan passed away in 2010, White said, âWe adored each other. It hurts more than I thought, if it’s possible. She was everything, as far as a friend was concerned. ”
âYou can’t work that closely together and not become a family,â White explained. âI hear these horror stories on shows where they don’t speak off camera. How do you do comedy if you don’t talk to yourself? ”
After Golden girls finished her run, Betty White joins Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty in the spinoff series The Golden Palace. While Bea Arthur had moved on, she returned for a special appearance in the show’s single season. With the new set and a major cast member for the most part gone, the show didn’t hit as well as its predecessor at the time, but it did become more popular with Daddy’s Girls fans in recent years.
Golden girls airs on Hulu if you want to watch classic episodes in honor of Betty White. If you want to check The Golden Palace, it was announced by Hulu shortly before White’s death that the series would also be available to watch on the streamer on January 10.
Harry Potter star Emma Watson has taken to social media to express her support for trans people following JK Rowling’s recent comments.
