Badgley looks absolutely amazing in fan art, courtesy of the legendary Bosslogic. Besides the nearly black hair color, the actor looks almost exactly like the Mr. Fantastic comic. Bosslogic’s work could convince even the strongest Krasinski-stans that Badgley would be a perfect fit for the role.
Now that he’s eyeing up the role, the actor ticks off nearly every box on Mr. Fantastic’s checklist. Badgley, 35, is a pretty old choice that would allow Marvel Studios to forego the character’s origin story because no one needs another young adult in Fantastic Four – remember Miles Teller and company in “Fant4stic?” He’s also young enough to stay on as Richards for the next 10-15 years. The Fantastic Four have been an integral part of Marvel Comics since their inception in 1961, so Marvel Studios will be looking for actors who can stick around for the future of the MCU.
Badgley’s acting career also makes him a perfect choice for the role. Since the character’s creation, Reed Richards has been quite arrogant. His incredibly high IQ has caused him, at times, to look down on others and always consider himself righteous because he is the smartest man alive. However, Reed is still a good guy at heart. He is caring, caring and always wants to do good. Badgley played a character with similar personality traits on Netflix’s “You.” His character, Joe, also cares about those he loves, albeit in his own way, but his arrogance and condescending ways make him act like he’s the smartest person in the room.
Throughout all three seasons of “You,” fans can spot Reed Richards in Badgley’s performance, so it’s understandable that he might be on Marvel Studios’ radar for Mr. Fantastic.
