With the end of free support for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Animal Crossing New Horizons, fan art honors both games.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Animal Crossing: New Horizons share almost nothing in common. However, that didn’t stop a player from combining the intense military shooter and relaxing simulation, with the artwork featuring an iconic character. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War character and a hilarious Animal Crossing: New Horizons same.
While it’s unclear what inspired the Random Team, it could be because both games are seeing their free content updates end around the same time. Earlier this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 6 has been released, bringing the latest batch of Multiplayer and Zombies maps to the game. Early next month, Animal Crossing: New HorizonsThe big update 2.0 will be released, with many improvements in the works.
Regardless of why Reddit user usaokay created their cross piece, it’s hard to deny that the result is amazing. If it hadn’t been for a specific part of the image, this would be just a great piece of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fan art. In the image, Samantha Maxis can be seen inside the Dark Aether, sitting with her face in her hands and clearly looking defeated. Takeo’s katana is on his back, while the Quick Revive perk machine is also present inside the dimension filled with crystals. However, many will instantly recognize the object Sam is resting on.
Sam can be seated on it Animal crossingBeloved Froggy Chair, something that should make anyone familiar with the meme laugh. The Froggy chair was an item in several games before Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but for some reason it wasn’t available for purchase in the last title. For months, gamers have been making memes about their desire for the Froggy Chair, and Nintendo is finally listening with the game’s latest update. After more than a year of waiting, the Froggy Chair will soon be usable.
As to where the frog chair was all this time, maybe it really was in the dark ether. More random objects can be seen near Sam like a teddy bear, Monster Energy can, and what appears to be a Pyro action figure from Team Fortress 2. Probably just a nod to things that usaokay loves, these items are difficult to locate. The Froggy chair is significant, however, with the unexpected appearance of the Animal crossing even instantly making the artwork more memorable.
Yet while the art is entertaining due to the weird elements in the background, it remains a grim picture overall. With the final cutscene of Forsaken confirming that Sam is stuck in the Dark Aether, she is once again entirely on her own – something this art clearly reflects.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
