Pokemon fans have been making dedicated art for the series since its inception over two decades ago. This includes designs, custom figurines, and tattoos that all feature various pocket monsters. The Pokemon the fan base loves creating pieces inspired by the franchise, letting their imaginations run wild.
Custom Pokemon trainers are a type of art that fans love to create. Players not only produce these custom trainer ideas, but also give their thoughts on what characters from other properties would look like if they were breeding Pokemon. An artist has produced artwork to show what a trainer specializing in Ghost-type Pokemon would look like, along with their version of a Ghost Eeveelution.
An artist on Reddit known as salt_the_wizard has posted fan art of his vision for a Ghost-type Pokémon trainer. The character’s design is rather unique, as he sports a hoodie with a ghost face as a hood, mismatched leggings, and untied pink sneakers. Along with the coach is a team consisting of Gengar, Mimikyu, Chandelure, and Marshadow. Salt_the_wizard also created a Ghost-like Eeveelution for the character, which features a white and blue body, as well as ethereal flames similar to Chandelure’s where his ears and tail would be.
The piece is a cute look at a trainer who would only command Ghost-type pocket monsters and would make a great Pokemon NPC or gym leader in future games. Salt_the_wizard’s work has gained a few fans and currently has over 200 upvotes. One commenter said he liked the ghost-type Eevee’s face, while another dubbed it Muerteon, which is a play on “muerto,” the Spanish word for death. A user expressed his love for the art and asked if salt_the_wizard could do a drawing of a Dark or Ice type trainer, to which the artist replied that he had already done a Dark one on his Instagram page.
Salt_the_Wizard is just one of many artists who design sneaker pieces. A Redditor by the name of marcosfill combined Pokemon and the animated series naruto by drawing the characters of the latter as trainers. The user drew their take on what Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke would look like if they were in RPGs, with all three characters wearing outfits reminiscent of what they wear in the anime. This includes Naruto wearing a shirt and pants that resemble the orange jumpsuit he is known for and Sakura wearing a ribbon in her hair that resembles the headband she usually wears. The work done by marcosfill is an interesting mix of both franchises, bringing together two fandoms of popular properties.
Pokemon scarlet and violet will be released for Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.
