Tom Cruise transforms into Iron Man in new fan art, and we’re enjoying the Tony Stark variant. Even though the actor has no history with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he was one of Marvel’s first considerations for the role of the Avenger in Armor. However, they ultimately went with Robert Downey Jr, and the rest is history.
According to some reports, Cruise felt the role would not work and therefore did not accept the offer. But we can imagine the actor as a superhero. He’s not anonymous to the crazy action sequences, as seen in his famous Mission Impossible movie series.
Now, this new Rahan Nejraoui fan art reinvents Iron Man and helps us further conceptualize Tom Cruise as the Avenger. The artwork depicts a battered Cruise in armor that resembles the Mark 43 costume seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, with the character’s signature facial hair.
The artist posted the art to Instagram and said in the caption that he was inspired by the story of Tom Cruise’s original casting as Iron Man, as well as rumors of Doctor’s upcoming sequel. Strange featuring Cruise as a variant in a cameo appearance.
For the uninitiated, some rumors are circulating that the Top Gun actor will finally get the chance to play the armored hero in Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It is also said that the film will feature several characters from older Marvel movies who are “non-MCU”.
“I’ve heard rumors that Tom Cruise might appear as a Tony Stark variant in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness,” the caption read. If the rumors turn out to be true, it will be interesting to see the Mission Impossible actor as Iron Man or his variant. But in the meantime, fans can have fun imagining him as the hero through this incredible fan art.
