Viral Marvel Fan Art Features Layla and Taweret Together

During its six episodes, moon knight was largely able to focus on itself due to the lack of ties to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means that not only has the series had plenty of time to tell the story of Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac), but also an entirely new cast of supporting characters. This includes May Calamawy’s Layla El-Faouly, the character who quickly became the Scarlet Scarab of the MCU.

As fate would have it, Layla has become a fan favorite. Enough, then, a piece of fan art featuring the character with the Egyptian god Taweret has gone mega-viral for the duo’s cute iteration. See the piece for yourself below.

At some point, Taweret and Layla were going to meet face to face, but moon knight director Mohamed Diab changed it to have the god act through Layla much like Khonshu does the same through Marc and Steven Grant.

“You know, I found out I had to do it 30 minutes before we did it,” Calamawy said. The envelope. “Because initially Antonia Salib, who plays Taweret, was on set. She was supposed to be in the bedroom with Layla. And then Mohamed Diab comes to see me in the trailer while I’m getting ready, and he says to me, ‘ You know, I thought about it, and actually, it has to go through you.’ And I really didn’t know what that meant. I was like, ‘You want me to mime, like, suddenly get possessed by Taweret?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, cool’, and he left me.”

“And I just had to bring it. I didn’t have time to think. And sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if I had had time to sit with it,” the actress added. “But I threw myself into it, and it was probably the most freeing experience of the whole show for me. Because Mohamed would just give me some notes, and then I’d go, and I didn’t have time to looking at me. . And also with everything that had happened that day, I felt like it totally made sense for Layla. She’s like, having this break right now, a moment.”

moon knight is now streaming in full on Disney+.
