Wendy Williams’ longest-running fan page on Instagram is on hiatus as the talk show host finds herself embroiled in controversy.
Last week, Williams was forced to apologize after he said on air that gay men should “stop wearing our skirts and heels.”
âI’m 55 and maybe I looked like your aunt, your mom, your big sister or someone out of touch,â Williams said in her apology video the next day. âI am not disconnected except maybe yesterday while saying what I said. I deeply apologize and deeply appreciate the support I am receiving from the community. I will do better.
Williams came under fire again on Monday after appearing to joke about the recent death of Drew Carey’s ex-fiancée Amie Harwick, referring to the game show he hosts, “The Price Is Right.” Harwick was found unconscious on the floor under a third floor balcony.
“She was killed – not by Drew – but by the ex,” Williams said on the daytime show, referring to Gareth Pursehouse, who was arrested and charged with her murder.
âCome down! She added, using the signature line of “The Price Is Right” as she looked up and down, apparently referring to Harwick’s downfall.
The back-to-back scandals appear to be too much for the larger group of Williams fans, as The Page posted a photo of Williams on Tuesday afternoon and wrote, âWe love you Wendy, but we’re going to take a break on this page. “
Fans appeared polarized in the comments section of the post, with some saying they would take a break from “The Wendy Williams Show” and others saying Williams simply made mistakes.
âI’m taking a break from the Wendy period,â wrote one fan. âI watched her from the start, but I just can’t support her comments anymore. Today was the icing on the cake.
Another supported Williams, writing: âOh my God and you are all perfect ?????? She brings so much happiness and laughs every day, so keep going, but we will always live Wendy𥰠Hope you get over yourself, more sour !!!!!!!!!
